Drug Use

Beginning Dec. 1, the military police offices on military installations here will set in motion a strict campaign aimed at reducing the number of alcohol and drug-related traffic accidents on Okinawa during the holiday season. The drunk and drugged-driving campaign, or 3D Campaign, is a joint service safety program aimed at reducing alcohol and drug-related automobile accidents and promoting safe and responsible driving through awareness, education and strict enforcement of traffic regulations. Acts of use, possession, trafficking, or distribution of illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia will not be tolerated. These offenses must be dealt with swiftly and effectively to the fullest extent provided for by law and regulations. Civilians engaging in such acts will be detained and turned over to a local law enforcement agency for prosecution under the applicable criminal statutes.

A Marine has plenty of time to reflect while serving his sentence in the brig.
