Personal and Family Readiness Division Reorganized Into Two New Divisions to Better Focus on Missions

HQMC (MR), QUANTICO, Va. — On Feb. 2, 2011, the Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (DC M&RA) reorganized the Personal and Family Readiness Division into two divisions. This reorganization will allow increased focus of effort for both organizations and separate the management of Marine and Family Programs from Business Operations.
The Marine and Family Programs Division will be directed by BGen Robert F. Hedelund and will be made up of programs such as Marine Corps Family Team Building, Unit Personal and Family Readiness, Behavioral Health, and Military Personnel Support which were previously under the Personnel and Family Readiness Division. The Wounded Warrior Regiment will also be moved under this new Division.
The Morale, Welfare, Recreation and Business Operations Division will be directed by Timothy R. Larsen, (MajGen, USMC Retired) and will be made up of programs such and the Marines Corps Exchange, Food and Hospitality Operations, SemperFit, and support functions such as contracting, finance, human relations, information technology and procurement.
The reorganization does not impact field operations and there are no plans to establish mirror organizations or to realign chains of command. Both organizations, under the DC M&RA will have direct liaison authority via appropriate chains of command to operational and supporting establishment commands. For purposes of joint operation, Marine and Family Programs Division is designated the supported command and the Marine Corps Exchange and Business Operations Division is designated the supporting command. Current support services such as contracting, finance, human relations, information technology and procurement will supporting both divisions.
