All Marine Boxing Team vies for Royal Albert Hall Cup

Royal Albert Hall Cup - Photograph: Crown Copyright/MOD 2011Members of the All-Marine Boxing Team were accompanied by Coaches Jesse Ravelo, Gunnery Sergeant Reuben Woodruff, and HQMC Sports Specialist Jim Medley, as they participated with Midshipmen from the US Naval Academy in the first Royal Albert Hall Cup.

The Marines fought against a contingency of the United Kingdom's Combined Forces boxing team. The Marines were 3 to 1 against the Brits. However, the UK team won the Cup, 5 to 4. Marine Corps boxers, LCpl Darnell Price, LCpl Freddie Rosario, and LCpl Joseph Canale won bouts in their weight class.

In addition to the premier boxing event, the team also met with Britain's Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron and US Ambassador to the UK, The Honorable Mr. Louis Susman at an evening social at 10 Downing Street on 6 October. The Marines returned to Camp Lejeune on 9 October.
