In the finals, Arendt Jr wowed the capacity crowd with his feet-to-back throw and subsequent pin of his opponent at 4:52 minutes into the match. He will take the #1 seed into the World Team Trials and attempt to win the right to represent the United States at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary later this year. The World Team Trials are set for 21 June at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Ok.

Donald Simmons, Halifax, Pennsylvania, also punched his ticket to the World Team Trials in Oklahoma with a 7th place finish at the 84 kg (185 lb) weight class. Charles Fish, a native of Hartland, Wisconsin, narrowly missed qualifying for the trials but still won All-American honors with his 8th place finish at the 96 kg (211 lb) weight class.

The Marines will be back in action at the Northern Plains Championship in Waterloo, IA, 9 May. They will return to training camp in Colorado Springs, CO in preparation for the World Team Trials.
