Marine Corps Clubs Membership Card Deployment Benefits

MCB QUANTICO  -  As a member of the Marine Corps Club you are entitled to deployment benefits.  All members, when deployed to a location without a Marine Corps club for over thirty days, can suspend their dues for the length of the deployment, and their family members can still utilize the benefits of club membership.  To take advantage of this benefit the member must check out with their local club or MCCS finance office prior to deployment.  Club membership and the club card are retained while dues are waived during the duration of deployment.

If a member is deployed to a location with a club, they will continue to pay dues at their home club and can receive full benefits at the club where they are deployed while the family can still utilize the home club.

Yet another benefit associated with the MCCS Club Membership Card is the Blue Star Benefit. Inspired by the World War II tradition of hanging a blue star in the window of homes belonging to families with loved ones serving their country, this program gives qualifying Marine Corps club members a rebate of all purchase finance charges accrued during active service in designated military campaigns.  Club members deployed to certain military locations may take advantage of this finance charge reimbursement for their revolving Chase MCCS Club account.

"Military campaign" is defined as a contingency duty location that satisfies Campaign Service Award requirements, such as Afghanistan or Iraq.  After returning to a regular duty assignment, the club member would provide Chase with official verification of involvement in a military campaign, including the dates of that involvement, and Chase would quickly evaluate the request and reimburse any qualifying purchase finance charges. These finance charges can add up, and interest on charges the member or spouse made on the revolving MCCS Club Account during the time deployed for the military campaign may qualify for reimbursement. There is no cutoff scheduled for this benefit established to honor our military members.

How do Cardmembers take advantage of the Blue Star benefit?

Eligibility
Eligible Chase Cardmembers include military Cardholders and military Authorized Users on active duty in a military campaign that is designated to receive a campaign ribbon or medal authorized by the U.S. government.

Requirements
Eligible Cardmembers will provide a written request for reimbursement of finance charges.  This written request must include official verification of the dates of their involvement in the campaign and evidence of eligibility for an associated campaign medal/ribbon.

Provisions

  • Once the appropriate information is received at the above address, eligible Cardmembers will receive a reimbursement (up to one year) of purchase finance charges incurred on qualifying Chase military credit card accounts during their time in the military campaign.
  • The reimbursement is provided retroactively as a credit on qualifying Chase military credit card accounts.
  • The qualifying Chase military credit card account must be open and in good standing at the commencement of the military campaign and must remain open and in good standing throughout the military member's duration in the campaign.
  • Finance charge reimbursements are limited to finance charges assessed on purchase balances on the affected account and will not include finance charges assessed on balance transfers or other cash transactions.
  • Reimbursement of finance charges is effective for the duration a Cardmember is deployed in the military campaign or for a period of one year, whichever is shorter.
  • Claims must be submitted within one year of end date of the Cardmember's involvement in the military campaign.
