Attention Star Card Cardholders Displaced by Hurricane Katrina

The Military Exchange Services have agreed to waive interest and suspend monthly payment requirements for September and October 2005 for Exchange Credit Program cardholders displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Star Card payments will be due starting with the November billing cycle. The interest rate and payment waiver will also apply to new purchases for the same two-month period. 

Approximate 15,000 accounts from Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) and Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Star Card holders are believed to be eligible for the waiver. Decision authority for all Navy Exchange and Coast Guard Exchange Star Card holders will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Eligibility for the waiver of both interest and payments was determined by matching accounts to the U.S. Postal Service's list of zip codes for areas that had been severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina.  The affected areas in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi include:

All Exchange Credit Program cardholders displaced by Hurricane Katrina are encouraged to contact Customer Service at the nearest Exchange, call 1-877-991-7827, or visit www.milexch.com to update their contact information.
