Everyone Deserves to Feel Safe

Everyone Deserves to Feel Safe

Life in the Corps—and at home—can be stressful. Arguments happen. But in a healthy relationship, you should feel safe to speak your mind, be heard, and resolve conflict with respect.

What Makes a Relationship Healthy?

Not everyone grows up seeing positive relationships. But no one should feel scared, controlled, or disrespected. A healthy relationship is built on:

  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Open, honest communication
  • Emotional and physical safety

Warning Signs of Abuse

Your partner:

  • Uses physical violence
  • Controls where you go or who you see
  • Threatens you, your children, or pets
  • Makes you feel unsafe

If You Recognize These Behaviors in Yourself

It takes courage to seek help. Change is possible—and worth it. Your local Family Advocacy Program (FAP) offers confidential counseling and support to help you learn healthier relationship skills.

If You're Experiencing These Behaviors

You are not alone. FAP Advocates provide confidential, compassionate help. Whether you want to work on the relationship or make a supported transition out of it, FAP can help you:

  • Create a safety plan
  • Understand your rights.
  • Access resources on and off base

Take Action

Don’t wait. If you or someone you know needs help, contact your local FAP office or speak with a FAP Advocate.

Everyone deserves to feel safe. Reaching out is a sign of strength.
