Support Systems Help Protect Families

Domestic abuse threatens our Corps, tearing apart families and eroding the trust that holds us together. It thrives in silence and isolation—and that’s where you come in. Your vigilance and willingness to step up can make all the difference.

Why This Matters to You, Marine:

  • Deployments, PCS Move, and Constant Pressure:We know the unique challenges of military life can create stress that can lead to problems at home. Don't let it fester.
  • We've Got Your Six: The Marine Corps has resources dedicated to supporting Marines and their families. The Family Advocacy Program, Community Counseling Program, Military OneSource, and your command leadership are there to provide confidential support and guidance.
  • It's About Honor:Upholding the values of the Corps means protecting our own from harm, both on and off the battlefield. Domestic abuse is a betrayal of those values.

What You Can Do:

  • Lead by Example: Promote a culture of respect, communication, and support within your unit.
  • Your Brothers and Sisters Need You: Be a sounding board when your friends need to vent about stressors. Volunteer to help them unpack or babysit the kids for a night.
  • Be Alert: Know the warning signs of domestic abuse. If you suspect something, don't stay silent. Talk to someone you trust – a friend, a chaplain, or a member of your command.
  • Know the Resources: Familiarize yourself with the support systems available to Marines and their families. Suggest your friends seek help from those resources if they need additional support.

We don't leave anyone behind on the battlefield, and we don't leave anyone to struggle in silence at home. Stand tall, Marine. Protect your own. Reach out to your friends and neighbors.
