Read Across America with Marine Corps MWR Libraries

Read Across America with Marine Corps MWR Libraries

Every March, readers across the nation come together in classrooms, libraries, and book clubs to celebrate the National Education Association’s Read Across America during National Reading Month. The initiative encourages a lifelong love of reading, builds strong literacy skills, and celebrates the diversity of readers through themed reading lists, free educational resources, and engaging activities.

Reading is also a form of fitness—one that strengthens the mind, sparks imagination, and creates meaningful connections. It’s an activity the entire family can enjoy, making it a powerful way to support mental, social, and spiritual well-being together.

You can celebrate Read Across America with your local Marine Corps MWR Library. From special reading challenges and storytime events to curated reading lists available through the Marine Corps Virtual Library on OverDrive, MWR Libraries offer resources that support literacy and learning for all ages. While digital options make participation easy from anywhere, visiting your on-base library together can be a meaningful family activity that supports overall wellness, connection, and community.

Consider how your family can engage in Read Across America this month—whether by reading together, discussing stories that resonate with you, or exploring new perspectives through books—to build your mental, social, and spiritual fitness.
